What grade are you in?
9th Grade
How many years have you been on the Cyber Cats?
What sub-teams are you on?
Programming, Digital Media, Photo/Video, and Business Team
In what ways do you and your sub team help the team?
The programming sub team is crucial for the team because without a program, the robot will not be able to perform the tasks it was built to do. Autonomous programming is also an important contribution that the programming team provides. The business team creates a business plan for the team, which can help us win more awards at competitions, such as the entrepreneurship award. Talking to sponsors and judges at competitions are also important duties of the business team.
What is FIRST to you?
FIRST is wonderful community of people with similar interests as I. I think FIRST does a great job challenging us every year to test our own creativity and strategic thinking to create something that is truly remarkable. FIRST teaches us about friendly competition and gracious professionalism as well as the engineering aspects of the program. FIRST is a great organization that prepares students for the future whether it is pursuing an engineering career or a business related career.
What is your favorite memory so far about robotics?
So far, my favorite memory as a member of the Cyber Cats was the Downtown Rochester Christmas parade. I really got to know my team mates and see who I would be working with. It was also nice to represent my team in the parade.
Why did you decide to join robotics?
I joined robotics because I love programming and I want to pursue engineering and business as careers. I feel joining the team will give me a good exposure to both of the fields. I enjoy being challenged and robotics allows me to constantly be faced with fun challenges. I was also on the team at Hart Middle School for the past two years, and I’ve had a lot of experience with VEX robotics. This has always been a part of my life and I want to continue my career in robotics.
What do you want to learn this season?
This season I want to expand my knowledge in all of the aspects of robotics, especially in programming. I want to become a better programmer and be able to code more efficiently and quickly, as opposed to slowly and with many errors. I also want to learn about creating a formal business plan and I would like to increase my exposure to public speaking.
What are three fun facts about yourself?
I swim varsity for Stoney Creek. I’ve been swimming competitively for 8 years. I play the saxophone, piano, guitar, ukulele and I also sing. I’ve loved music and performing for as long as I can remember. Although I don’t play for a team, I love soccer. I watch as many matches as I can and I play many soccer related video games, along with other kinds of games. F.C Barcelona is my favorite team and I enjoy following along with all of their victories.
